When the stock markets took a dip in 2008 my professional life also took a dip. The company I worked for was bought by another and I was released to discover new opportunities. The good thing about this challenging event is you are given time to reflect and discover what is important to you.
I decided I was going to find a place where I could use my natural talents. I am creative. This is my signature strength. I am also a corporate trainer. I know how to design and implement seminars and workshops. I am a people person and have many years experience as a customer service specialist.
I took some time to figure out what I valued, what I wanted out of a profession and what brought joy into my life. The answer was simple and it turns out it was always there in my family roots.
I come from a family of farmers. My grandfather owned a farm and that farm has been passed down to my uncle and then to my first cousin. (Yes, there really is a Kent farm for Superman fans out there
When I was little I had a garden in my backyard and felt harmony watching green things grow. At the same time I discovered that agriculture was not my future. I prefer playing with words and found great satisfaction in being a Wordsmithteer.
As I grew older and entered the workforce I discovered I enjoy supporting people to grow, to celebrate their successes and to help them create a positive change in their life. It turns out I’m a people farmer – I love to encourage people to experience personal growth. Great!
Now all I had to do was figure out a joyful job that would allow me to embrace my full potential and get paid to do it.
I surfed the web and explored various career options and found myself drawn to websites on coaching. With a bit more research I was focused on creativity coaching. Being creative has brought much good into my life and I want to support others to experience this joyful adventure. They even have training courses on it!
The Kaizen Muse Creativity Coaching course was the best with innovative tools and a practical approach that takes into account how the brain works.
So, I took the course, completed the assignments and read many books on coaching, creativity and positive psychology. Then I decided on a name for my company and created a website. Did I mention I’m an amateur techie and screenwriter?
I spent time writing down what I wanted to achieve with my company. This is more than a mission. It’s my calling.
Welcome to Right Brain Coach. You can experience creative growth!
Sincerely,
